This is not the first time that Shawn Yue has been accused of "Hong Kong independence".
In February last year, the brand MADNESS founded by Shawn Yue was discovered by netizens and marked Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan as "countries". According to netizens’ report, MADNESS official website incorrectly stated in Chinese and English that "we send goods to most countries around the world", including China, Taiwan Province, Hongkong and Macau.
After the incident was exposed, a large number of netizens accused Shawn Yue of "Hong Kong independence". Some netizens called for "resisting separatism!" "Cancel the attention!" Some netizens found out the pictures of yellow ribbons sent by their social networking sites and thought that Shawn Yue was a "Hong Kong independence element".
Late at night on February 8, 2018, Shawn Yue wrote an apology in Weibo: "As the manager of MADNESS, I am hard to blame for the poor brand supervision of the company and feel very sorry for such a big mistake and misunderstanding. We will deeply review this matter, and we will never allow such mistakes to happen again in our future work! I apologize again to all those who care about me! "
At the same time, MADNESS’s social networking site (IG) account also issued an apology statement, saying that "it has been corrected as soon as possible" for the extremely serious wording errors on the official website, and changed the "country" in the webpage to "country/region".
